Walls, ceilings and woodwork

Walls, ceilings and woodwork form the bulk of most interior decorating work and can have the biggest impact on the impression your home can make. We can carry out all basic wall and ceiling paint jobs, helping you to choose colours and paint finishes that have the biggest effect.

With walls and woodwork, we can take care of any sanding and rubbing down required, ensuring that all surfaces are even and in good condition before applying paint. We only use premium primers, undercoats and topcoats, which means you get the best possible finish that will really stand the test of time.

During all our interior paint working jobs, we will ensure that any other surfaces are covered and protected, so you won’t need to worry about your sofa or carpet. We also offer wallpaper stripping and hanging if you decide that this is the way you want to go with your home.

Repairs to woodwork

Woodwork forms a big part of the interior of many homes. Skirting boards, door frames and other edging is often made of wood and offers a contrast of finish and materials that really works. However, over time it can take a bit of abuse and can end up chipped, dented or scuffed.

That’s why before we get to any painting, we will work to repair your woodwork with high-quality fillers and other treatments. We will take care of any sanding and rubbing down, causing the minimum fuss and disruption by using dust extraction systems if necessary. Only when we are full satisfied that the woodwork has been fully repaired will we start to apply the primer, undercoat and paint layers.

By using the best-quality paints and varnishes, we will ensure that your woodwork will remain in the best possible condition for years to come. You’ll be amazed by the impact a spruce up of your woodwork can have.

Coving/Cornice Repairs

Coving is used to soften the edges between walls and ceilings. It was originally fashionable in the Georgian and Victorian periods as a decorative addition but has been used ever since in certain types of properties. It’s usually made of gypsum plaster, although in more recent times it has also been made using several other materials.

Over the years, coving and cornicing can become damaged either through contact, damp or simply due to time. We are experienced in repairing all types of coving and cornicing. We can replace broken or damaged sections with new coving if required or make small repairs to damaged sections before painting to restore the original appearance.

Painted kitchens

Kitchens are one of the home’s most used rooms. But with all that heat and moisture in the air, not to mention the sheer volume of traffic that passes through a kitchen, bespoke painted kitchen units often take the wear and tear and need a refresh from time to time

Even a small refurb of your kitchen can completely transform the room, but this can also be tricky a job. There is often a lot of technical painting involved, because of the presence of tiles and appliances, and you may need to use special paint as well as deal with issues such as grease, grime and moisture build up. For these jobs, calling in the professionals is always a good idea.

Wallpapering

Along with painting, wallpapering is another common form of decorating the home. Wallpaper has many advantages. First, it is hardwearing and protects the walls beneath, as well as covering walls that are in bad condition. It can also add colours and patterns that you can’t achieve with paintwork.

However, wallpaper is tricky to remove, and often requires special tools and equipment to take off completely. Hanging new wallpaper can also be difficult, especially with certain patterns that need to match up or on walls with corners and tricky areas.

Our team is very experienced at working with wallpaper and can both remove and hang to leave a professional finish. We can help you to choose wallpaper that suits your space and will ensure walls are lined and in good condition before we hang the paper. Staining/Varnishing

If you have natural wood in your home, then you may want to keep the appearance, colour or feel of natural materials and grain. However, wood also needs to be treated in order to keep it looking its best and protect it from damage. That’s why we use wood stains and varnishes.

Wood stains are available in a range of colours. However, you can only generally go from light to dark. If you’re going the other way, you may need to sand the wood first. Varnishes add a protective layer to the top of the wood. This will provide a hard exterior coating that will prevent scratching and discolouration, and keep the wood safe from moisture and sunlight over time.

We only use the best-quality stains and varnishes, to provide a superior finish and to ensure your interior wood is looking its best for years to come.

Furniture Painting/Restoration

Of course, it’s not just walls and woodwork that need painting in the home. There are also lots of bits of furniture that could really benefit from a lick of paint. Chairs, tables, sideboards, cupboards – if it’s made from wood then it can be sanded, treated and painted to give it a new lease of life.

Our team of expert painters and decorators are also highly skilled in restoring furniture using woodworking tools, specialist filler and a choice of high-quality varnishes and paints. Whether you want to maintain a natural wooden finish or would rather add some colour to your furniture, we will work to meet your requirements.

As always, we only use the best-quality materials and paints, and will work discreetly, causing the minimum amount of disruption to your everyday life. If you have a piece of furniture that is looking a bit tired or unloved and could do with a new lease of life, then get in touch to find out more about our furniture painting and restoration services.

Wooden floor restoration

Wood is a beautiful material to use on the floor. Over the centuries, wood has been used in a variety of ways as a floor covering, either as floorboards, parquet or more modern floating floors. Of course, as a floor it’s going to see some heavy traffic and over time will start to look a little tired and worn. It may get dented or scratched or even lose its colour or sheen.

That’s where we come in. We have vast experience in restoring all types of wooden floors. From a complete sand and re-varnish, to polishing and touch ups, we can help to restore your wooden floors to their very best. This could have a huge impact on your space, and completely change the look and feel of your room.

We can also offer advice on which products to use for a hardwearing finish, as well as advice about staining and colour choices. As always, we work around your schedule and to agreed deadlines so we cause the minimum amount of disruption possible. Get in touch to find out more about what we do.

Windows

Over time, wooden windows come in for a fair amount of punishment. Whether you have sash, casement or transom windows, the exterior will be exposed to rain, sun and the other elements. Inside, they will need to deal with condensation, handling and more. All of which means that they can really start to show their age and, if left untreated, can start to rot or soften.

That’s why we offer a specialist window service, repairing damage to the wood, fixing any issues with the mechanism and moving parts, and sanding and painting using the appropriate high-quality products.

If your windows need a bit of TLC, then get in touch to find out more about how we can help you to restore them to their former glory. We only use the finest materials so your windows will look their best, both inside and out, and will be protected for years to come.
